Abstract

Employee performance in the judicial sector is often shaped by the quality of the work environment and compensation policies, particularly when job demands escalate. This study aims to examine the influence of work environment and compensation on employee performance with workload as a mediating variable at the Ciamis District Court. A quantitative approach was employed by distributing Likert-scale questionnaires to thirty-nine employees, with data analyzed using multiple linear regression and the Sobel test to assess the mediating effect. The findings reveal that both work environment and compensation exert a positive and significant influence on employee performance. Furthermore, workload functions as a partial mediator in this relationship, indicating that the impact of organizational support and rewards is channeled through employees’ perceived task burden. These results emphasize the strategic importance of fostering a supportive work environment, ensuring fair compensation schemes, and maintaining balanced workload distribution to enhance human resource effectiveness within public judicial institutions.
